How to play 7-Card Stud Each player starts with two hole cards and one up card. Then there are three additional rounds of up-cards with betting after each card, and a final down card, followed by a final betting round. On the first round, the betting starts with the player having the lowest up card and is considered a forced bet. Thereafter the betting starts with the player showing the highest board hand. Each player will have a total of seven cards; four faced up and three faced down. The player holding the best hand using five of their cards wins the pot.
