o Overview: Cypress Bayou Casino and Shorty's, Regent Broadcasting and KATC TV3 will host a talent search contest (vocalists only). There will be three days of auditions and seven days of competition with the final competition on December 5, 2008. Grand Prize winner will receive $5,000 and, $1250 in Cypress Plus (extra credit), Second Place Winner receives $2,500 and $1000 in Cypress Plus (extra credit) and Third Place winner receives $1,000 and $750 in Cypress Plus (extra credit).
o Cypress Bayou Casino/Shorty's employees will compete only against other Cypress Bayou Casino/Shorty's employees and will have a different prize pool. There will be three days of auditions and seven days of competition with the final competition on December 5, 2008. Grand Prize winner will receive $2500 in cash, a $1000 gas card and a $500 Gift Card to Sears. Second Place Winner receives $1000 in Cash, a $500 gas card and a $500 Gift Card to Sears. Schedule of Events:
Auditions: Fridays, September 5, 2008 - September 19 from 8:30 PM-10:00 PM.
Semi-Finals: Fridays, October 10-October 24 and November 7 - November 21, 2008 from 8:30 PM-10:00 PM.
Finals: Friday, December 5, 8:30-10:00 PM.
Registration:
- Registration forms will be available on http://www.cypressbayou.com/, at the Promotions Booths in Cypress Bayou Casino and Shorty's, at Regent Broadcasting and at KATC TV3. Completed registrations will be accepted at the Promotions Booths in Cypress Bayou Casino and Shorty's beginning August 13 at 10am until Thursday, August 28 at 5pm. Registrants who register in this time period will be guaranteed an audition time.
- If a person does not preregister they will still have a chance to audition. The first 30 people to register each audition night, Fridays, September 5, 2008 - September 19 from 7:00PM-8:00PM will be entered into that that night's audition.
- All entrants must be 21 years of age or older.
- All entrants must complete the provided registration form and present a valid driver's license or state or federal photo identification card.
- An audition date and time will be posted for each entrant on http://www.cypressbayou.com/ on Friday, August 29 at 10am.
- You must specify the song you are going to sing when you register.
Auditions:
- Auditions will be held Fridays, September 5, 2008 - September 19 from 8:30 PM-10:00 PM at Rox Nightclub at Cypress Bayou Casino and Shorty's.
- The first 30 people to register who did not pre-register will still have a chance to audition. The first 30 people to register each audition night, Fridays, September 5, 2008 - September 19 in Rox from 7:00PM-8:00PM will entered into that night's audition.
- Contestants must register by completing their Registration form and providing valid driver's license or state or federal photo identification card at the Promotions Booths in Cypress Bayou Casino and Shorty's as stated above to receive their audition time.
- Contestants must also be members of the The Club, the Cypress Bayou Casino player club, to participate. They must show their The Club card or register for a membership. Membership is free.
- Auditions are open to amateurs only - individuals who have ever signed a recording contract are not eligible.
- Entrants will be required to present a valid driver's license or state or federal photo identification card to Cypress Bayou Casino representative in Rox Nightclub before auditioning.
- Each entrant will have a maximum of 1 minute to audition.
- All entrants must sing acappella (no musical accompaniment or enhancement will be permitted during auditions.)
- Entrants will NOT be allowed to see their judging sheets or scores.
- Each entrant who auditions will receive $100 in Cypress Plus (extra credit) valid for one week on their The Club card.
- If an entrant is a Cypress Bayou Casino employee they will be given a promo card with the Cypress Plus (this is extra credit only).
- Audition results will be posted at the Promotions Booths at Cypress Bayou Casino and Shorty's on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at 5:00PM and posted on-line at http://www.cypressbayou.com/, http://www.katctv3.com/ and on all of the Regent websites.
- Entrants are responsible for checking the posting to see if they made it to semifinals competition. No phone calls will be made.
- The top 72 scores in the customer category will advance to the Semi finals competitions. In case of a tie in 72nd place, all/both tying scores will advance.
- The top 18 scores in the employee category will advance to the Semi finals competition. In case of a tie in 18th place, all/both tying scores will advance.
- The predetermined Bocat's Karaoke winners' (9 total) will automatically advance to the semi-finals.
Orientation:
Orientation will be held for all preliminary contestants in Rox each audition night (Fridays, September 5, 2008 - September 19) at 8:00PM. Orientation is NOT mandatory but recommended.
Semifinal Competition:
- Semi finals will be held in Rox Nightclub Fridays, October 10-October 24 and November 7 - November 21, 2008 from 8:30 PM-10:00 PM.
- Entrants must register by 8:00 PM in Rox Nightclub.
- Entrants who fail to register by the assigned time will be considered as "withdrawn" from the competition
- Each entrant who performs will receive $250 in Cypress Plus (extra credit) valid for one week on their The Club card.
- The number of contestants in the Semi finals will consist of 14 contestants each night chosen from the auditions and from the previous karaoke winners in the customer category. There will be 3 contestants from the employee category competing each night of the Semi finals. Each competitor will be given a specific, assigned time slot. This will be posted on http://www.cypressbayou.com/ on September 30, 2008 at 12noon and at the Promotions Booths in Cypress Bayou Casino and Shorty's. Three winners from the customer category will be selected each night to compete in the Finals. One winner from the employee category will be selected each night to compete in the Finals.
- All wild card candidates should come prepared to compete.
Wild Cards will be selected in the following manner:
- 1. Public Wild Card- A Wild Card will be drawn each Friday night when a semi final is held from anyone who wishes to compete but has not performed in the previous Semi finals and fulfills all the necessary requirements. Entrants must be present in the venue at precisely 8PM. If the entrant drawn is not present at the time of the drawing another will be drawn. Entrants will have one minute to respond once their name has been called.
- All Wild Card contestants must be prepared to compete with a pre-recorded music CD with no lead vocals.
- All Wild Card contestants must be 21 or older.
- All Wild Card contestants are subject to disqualification if determined to be intoxicated at time of drawing for the Wild Card slot. All decisions made by management are final. Wild card participants must not consume alcohol prior to performing.
- The Wild Card contestant chosen to participate must complete all release forms including a registration form, a Use of Photograph and Release form and a Release and Waiver of Liability form, signed and dated. Participants will be bound and must adhere to all other rules.
- All Semi final contestants will perform their selected song in its entirety.
- All Semi final contestants are responsible for providing their own song on a pre-recorded CD, without lead vocals.
- Songs are submitted each night of competition and may not be changed after submitted.
- Entrants must register with the Cypress Bayou Casino representative in Rox Nightclub no later than 8:00 PM.
- Entrants who fail to register by the assigned time will be considered as "withdrawn" from the competition and may not substitute their time or date to sing.
- There are no transfers, substitutions or revisions of assigned times or dates for any reason whatsoever.
- No acappella performances or *props will be allowed in the Semi-Final Competition.
*Props = Anything that supports or enhances the performance ex: removal of hats, shoes, capes, sunglasses, or any type clothing or accessory; Inviting audience members to join the performer on stage; any kind of instrument, played or not, accompanying performer on stage. CONTESTANTS MAY NOT TOUCH ANY AUDIENCE MEMBER DURING THEIR PERFORMANCE.
- Three winners from the customer category will be selected each night to compete in the Finals. One winner from the employee category will be selected each night to compete in the Finals.
Final Competition:
- The Final competition will be held in Rox Nightclub on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 8:30 PM.
- Entrants must register by 8:00 PM in Rox Nightclub.
- Entrants who fail to register by the assigned time will be considered as "withdrawn" from the competition.
- Finalists consist of the 18 winners in the customer category from the Semi-finals. Finalists consist of the 6 winners in the employee category from the Semi-finals All finalists will perform their song in its entirety.
- There will be one performer who will be chosen to be in the finals as a "judges choice". The "judges choice" will be chosen from the highest score of the semifinalists who did not advance to the finals. In the case of a tie, both performers will advance to the finals. The "judges choice" performer will be announced after the final semifinals competition on November 21 and will be posted on-line at http://www.cypressbayou.com/.
- Entrants are responsible for checking the posting to see if they made it to finals competition. No phone calls will be made.
- Each entrant who performs will receive $500 in Cypress Plus (extra credit) valid for one week on their The Club card.
- Three winners will be selected from the Finals in the customer category. Three winners will be selected from the Finals in the employee category.
- The top three winners in the customer category will receive the following from Cypress Bayou Casino:
o First Place Winner receives - $5,000.00 in CASH and a Shorty's Leather Jacket, $1250 in Cypress Plus (extra credit) valid for one week on their The Club card.

o Second Place Winner Receives - $1000 in CASH and a Shorty's Leather Jacket, a $500 Gas Card and a $500 Gift Card to Sears.
o Third Place Winner Receives - $500 in CASH and a Shorty's Leather Jacket, a $500 Gas Card and a $500 Gift Card to Sears.
Judging:
- Judges are defined as follows:
o Auditions Judges - 3 -4 for auditions only.
o Semi-Final Judges - Panel of 3-5 each Friday night responsible for selecting Finalists.
o Final Judges - Panel of 5 Judges- responsible for selecting the ROX STAR.
o All judges will be chosen by Cypress Bayou Casino. Judges will include representatives from local media including Regent Broadcasting, KATC TV3 as well as community and band leaders.
o Judges will not be employees of Cypress Bayou Casino.
Each contestant in the Auditions, Semi-finals & Finals will be judged in the following categories:
o Vocal capability and maturity
o Stage Presence
o Originality
o Audience appeal
- Each contestant will be judged on a scale from 1 to 10 in percentages to prevent ties, 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest score for each category.
- After each contestant performs their complete song, scoring sheets will be turned over to the Cypress Bayou Casino Representative and the next contestant will perform.
- Any disputes associated with this promotion will be resolved in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth in Chapter Nine of the Chitimacha Gaming Commission Class III Regulations.
Additional Rules:
o All audience members must be at least 21 years old or older to enter Contest and Cypress Bayou Casino/Shorty's.
o All participants must complete a registration form, a Use of Photograph and Release form and a Release and Waiver of Liability form, signed and dated.
o By signing and submitting registration form, contestants agree to comply with any and all rules of the competition.
o Judges/Management reserves the right to disqualify or otherwise exclude from consideration any participant(s) for failing to abide by these rules or by local, state or federal laws or ordinances.
o Participants must be at least 21 years old with valid driver's license or state or federal photo identification card.
o Persons who have ever signed a recording contract are not eligible to participate.
o All participants must be present for the scheduled performance times, prepared for competition. The competition judges are not accountable for any late arrivals.
o Any discrepancy with the judges shall be reviewed by Cypress Bayou Casino management and a representative from the Chitimacha Gaming Commission.
o All decisions made by the Cypress Bayou Casino management and a representative from the Chitimacha Gaming Commission is final.
o Final selection of winning participants shall be final and shall not be subject to objection or challenge.
o Cypress Bayou Casino, KATC TV3 or media approved by Cypress Bayou Casino, retain the right to videotape and record all performances.
o Such videotape will be the sole property of Cypress Bayou Casino or approved media and may be used in promotions/advertisement related to the promotion.
o Winners are solely responsible for all taxes levied or assessed on any prizes awarded. All winners are required to provide a valid picture ID and a Social Security card if number is not listed on valid picture ID, complete a 1099 and a W-9 form prior to receiving the prize. Also, all prizewinners are responsible for paying all applicable local, state, and federal taxes.
o Contestants may not be members of judges' immediate families.
o Winners agree to allow Cypress Bayou Casino unlimited and unrestricted use of the photo likeness for promotional use.
o Contestants may not use the name, likeness, icon, logo or any proprietary trademark or copyright that is the property of Cypress Bayou Casino, without the written permission of same.
o KATC TV3 and Regent staff and their immediate families (immediate family can be defined as: spouse, child or step-child, sibling or spouse's sibling, parent, spouse's parent or step-parent, grandparent or spouse's grandparent, grandchild or step-grandchild) are not eligible to participate
o No employee of the Tribal Gaming Commission, nor any member of the immediate family living in the household of any employee of the Tribal Gaming Commission, is eligible to participate in this promotion.
o At no time before or during the competition will contestants consume alcoholic beverages.
o Contestants found consuming alcoholic beverages may be disqualified.
o Any contestant giving false information on registration form shall be disqualified and will forfeit any prizes.
o The Chitimacha Gaming Commission reserves the right to investigate any and all complaints and disputes regarding the ROX STAR contest. Such disputes and complaints will be resolved in accordance with the Chitimacha Gaming Commission Regulations.
o Cypress Bayou Casino management reserves the right to cancel, change or modify this contest.
o The judges, times and decisions made to benefit the overall success of this promotion are at the discretion of the Cypress Bayou Casino management.
Conduct and Decisions
By participating in this contest, participants agree to be bound by the decisions of Cypress Bayou Casino Management. Persons who violated any rule, gain unfair advantage in participating in the contest, or obtain winner status using fraudulent means will be disqualified. Unsportsmanlike, disruptive, lude, annoying, harassing or threatening behavior is prohibited. Cypress Bayou Casino Management and the Chitimacha Gaming Commission will interpret these rules and resolve any disputed, conflicting claims or ambiguities concerning the rules or the contest and Cypress Bayou Casino Management and the Chitimacha Gaming Commission decisions concerning such disputes shall be final. If the conduct or outcome of the contest is affected by human error, any mechanical malfunctions or failures of any kind, intentional interference or any event beyond the control of Management, Management reserves the right to terminate the contest or make such other decisions regarding the outcome as Management deems appropriate with approval of the Chitimacha Gaming Commission. Any attempt by a contestant or any other individual to deliberately circumvent, disrupt or damage ordinary and normal operation of this contest, telephone systems or website or undermine the legitimate operation of the contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Cypress Bayou Casino reserves the right to seek damages from any such participant to the fullest extent permitted by law.
