Mr. Lester Interior

Our History

In 1988, the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana began Bayou Teche Bingo in our original 30,000 square-foot facility.  Five years later, in December of 1993, we expanded our operations to include a full-time casino, now known as Cypress Bayou Casino.  In June of 1994, our casino business took off and we discontinued bingo.  Later that year in September, we added 36 Table Games (we now have over 50), including Blackjack, Roulette, Poker and Craps.  A few years later in October of 1997, Eats food court was added; we also expanded Café Bayou with additional seating.  Our next development came in January of 1998, when we added our 50,000 square-foot special events facility called The Pavilion.   Only a few months later, another add-on came along when we tacked on a bus lobby and 7 bus bays.  We remodeled Bocat’s bar, which now houses an oyster bar and host Karaoke on Thursdays.  Next we extended our famed Mr. Lester’s Steakhouse to include a cigar/piano bar.  We took a break for a few years, but came back strong with the opening of Shorty’s in April of 2006.  Shorty’s features:  24/7 gaming, Off Track Betting, Live Action Poker, RIKRAK Asian Restaurant, ROX Upscale Nightclub and Fresh Coffee and Sandwich Shop.   High Stakes Indian Bingo is back.  And recently in 2007 we opened up a festive Mexican restaurant, LOCO

Cypress Bayou Casino and Shorty’s continues to evolve and progress; don’t miss what we have planned next!
